IPS LAUNCHES FIRST ACN-ACCREDITED LAP IN ITALY
Aprilia
Launched the first Accredited Testing Laboratory (LAP) in Italy, accredited by the Center for National Evaluation and Certification (CVCN) of the National Cybersecurity Agency (ACN).
This achievement, aligned to the Cyber Resilience Act, is the result of significant investments in skills and technology aimed at strengthening the country's technological sovereignty.
The LAP will conduct technology testing and scrutiny on ICT assets to ensure compliance with the cybersecurity requirements of the National Cyber Security Perimeter (NSCP).
IPS, with decades of experience in Cyber Intelligence for government clients nationally and internationally, will exclusively target institutional entities and critical infrastructure.
The V-LAP team will consist of IPS experts and young talents from leading Italian universities, selected for their excellence. The expansion of the staff is part of IPS's strategy to enrich the company with new professional skills, by strengthening laboratory and service activities and the design of proprietary “secured by design” solutions.
‘The creation of a network of laboratories to support the activities of the CVCN is a strategic initiative, so much so that it is supported by dedicated funds from the NRP and specific implementation objectives. The LAPs, the accredited test laboratories, are part of the broader mechanism of technological scrutiny implemented by the Agency and are deservedly part of the set of subjects that, in various capacities, participate in the protection of Italy's cybersecurity resilience. Hence the very strict organisational, technological and competence requirements that LAPs are called upon to meet, not to mention those of reliability, and the special attention with which the National Assessment and Certification Centre accredits laboratories, with the support of the Commission that also involves representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Interior. - said the Director of the CVCN, Adm. Andrea Billet - The accredited LAP of IPS has passed all the stages of the accreditation process and will now be able to support the CVCN in technology scrutiny activities on software and network components, in the cases that the CVCN considers appropriate to delegate. More generally, the accreditation of the LAP of IPS, represents an important step towards an increasingly structured connection between public and private bodies, to safeguard the common goal of the resilience of Italy's critical infrastructures'.
‘An important step with a systemic and long-term connotation, indeed, the activity of the LAP will complement the activities of the Security Assessment Laboratory (LVS), which has already been in operation for a long time, enriching the offer of IPS in the cyber resilience field. At this point of history, IPS represents a unicum at the national level, bringing together within the same industrial perimeter proprietary technologies and skills, of which it has full governance, that span all four of the technical-operational pillars indicated in the national cybersecurity strategy defined by the ACN. To protect the strategic interests of the State, hence its security, by accompanying and supporting institutions has always been the mission of IPS. The continuous development of technology in the field of cyber security, the collaboration with research institutions and universities, as well as the plan for growth and enhancement of its human resources, represent the guidelines to make the company even more a reference player and strategic asset in the framework of national cyber policies’. Declares IPS CEO Ing. Fabio Romani.
